'Mondagreen'
Minha próxima arte
Monday, October 23rd, 2006Meu mais recente trabalho chama-se “Portmanteau“, certo? Certo. Tenho certeza de que todos vocês já deram uma olhadinha nos meus vídeos no Youtube.
Portmanteau: a new word formed by joining two others and combining their meanings; “`smog’ is a blend of `smoke’ and `fog’”; “`motel’ is a portmanteau word made by combining `motor’ and `hotel’”; “`brunch’ is a well-known portmanteau”
Meu próximo trabalho já tem nome. Vai se chamar “mondegreens“.
mondegreen: A series of words that result from the mishearing or misinterpretation of a statement or song lyric. For example, ‘I led the pigeons to the flag’ for ‘I pledge allegiance to the flag’.
[Origin: 1954; coined by American author S. Wright fr. the line laid him on the green, interpreted as Lady Mondegreen, in a Scottish ballad]
[After (Lady) Mondegreen, a misinterpretation of the line (hae laid) him on the green, from the song “The Bonny Earl of Murray”.]
Vejam esse exemplo hilário do NIN:
Nine Inch Nails’, “Closer”
Misheard Lyrics:
You can have my insulation
You can have the heat that it brings
You can have my asbestos flakes
You can have my herbal tea.
Original Lyrics:
You can have my isolation
You can have the hate that it brings
You can have my absence of faith
You can have my everything.
É perfeito. É como se fosse um “portmanteau mal interpretado”. Perfeito, perfeito.
